She is married to Remy, a teacher and author. Together they have five sons, are members of Church of the Redeemer in West Monroe and reside at Milk&Honey, a garden paradise in the process of being tamed.
A quick primer on symbols in fine art. This talk looks at a selection of master paintings, identifies the symbolic elements, and discusses how they enrich not only the artwork, but how we view the entire creation. Biblical symbols are the grammar of creation — reading symbols well is part of participating faithfully in God’s cosmic order.
Creation is symbolic in that it inherently signifies truth about God’s character and the stories He tells. So learning to read the symbols in artwork both enhances our understanding of what the piece is communicating, and trains us to appreciate and learn from the world around us. Jesus used symbols when He spoke to the people; sheep, seeds, fig trees, white washed tombs, etc. As divine pedagogical tools, symbols teach wisdom beyond what mere propositions can deliver.
