This workshop explores how to use several progymnasmata exercises within one lesson to bring students from basic comprehension of a text to mastery — asking how should this change me and how can I use it?
Reading should not be a passive activity, put an active one that transforms the student through its goodness, truth, and beauty. This change will happen and be measured through student output. Unless the truth of the book can be expressed by a student, one only has hope that the book has changed them. Since they will need to use the material in their own presentations, the progymnasmata exercises will prepare students to become more careful and scrappy readers.
